The areas of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham are collectively known as the English Riviera or Torbay.
Paignton has a population of 45,000 and is a traditional English family resort. It has fantastic beaches and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The area has a long and varied history and was popular for holidays in Victorian times.
Holidays are, of course, still taken here and it’s mainly for the attraction of these fantastic sandy beaches, which stretch for miles. The area is particularly popular for sailing, surfing, diving and other water bourne activities.
The English Riviera has a Mediterranean style ambience and because of this it’s fantastic for eating out. Its attractions also include a water park and Paignton Zoo.
