Exmouth has a population of approximately 40,000 and can lay claim to having one of the largest community colleges in Europe. In addition to this it also has Rolle Quay, which is part of the University of Plymouth. Yet despite this the majority of the town is still geared towards its older residents. Whilst it provides a large number of social venues, such as pubs and clubs, it does not have the young social scene many may expect considering the size of its colleges.
